The name Over the Rhine comes from German immigrants during the mid 19th century. These immigrants had to walk across the city canals, which separated Over the Rhine from downtown Cincinnati. The immigrants referred to the canal as the Rhine in reference to Rhine River in Germany.

Over the Rhine Celebration
Over the Rhine in Cincinnati has a street fair once a month to celebrate the neighborhood diversity and revitalization.
Fun fact....In the 1880's Cincinnati was recognized as the "Beer capitol of the world"
